Mike Tomlin fined.

The NFL’s decision came down on Wednesday to fine Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin $100,000.00 for interference when he stepped onto the field during a kick return.

In a statement from the league, “Pittsburgh Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin has been fined $100,000.00 for interfering with a play in progress during last Thursday night’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. In addition, because the conduct affected a play on the field, a modification or forfeiture of draft choices will be considered after the final order of the 2014 draft has been determined.”

Wow! They might lose a draft pick? I do not agree with that punishment. Tomlin was wrong and he admitted to it but what about the official? What happens to him? If he had done his job, this would not be an issue.

The white border that Tomlin was standing in should have resulted in a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. At this time, there has been nothing said about the Referee receiving any punishment for not flagging Tomlin. He should be fined also. He also ran into Tomlin as well.

“As I stated yesterday, I take full responsibility for my actions, and I apologize for causing negative attention to the Pittsburgh Steelers organization,” Tomlin said in a team-released statement. “I accept the penalty that I received. I will no longer address this issue as I am preparing for an important game this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.”

At least he did not making any excuses for his actions. He still should have known better. For his team’s sake, I hope he stands behind the white line on Sunday.
